Anything that is not Outlook connects over IMAP/SMTP with an app password, and you can do it yourself: Settings > Email Accounts (/settings/email-accounts) > Connect > "Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo, Fastmail or other".
Providers with built-in settings
Pick one of these and Tormano already knows the server addresses - you only supply your email address and an app password. The dialog links straight to the page where you generate one:
- Gmail / Google Workspace - myaccount.google.com/apppasswords
- iCloud Mail - an Apple app-specific password
- Yahoo - a Yahoo app password
- Fastmail - a Fastmail app password
Gmail is here rather than under OAuth on purpose: Tormano does not request Gmail permissions from Google, so Google never grants it access to your mailbox. Google is not the one granting access on this path — you are. An app password lets Tormano sign in to the mailbox directly and mirror your messages, including their full bodies and every correspondent's address, and Tormano holds that app password (encrypted) for as long as the mailbox stays connected. See /privacy#mailbox-mirroring for what is stored, who can read it and how long it is kept.
Any other provider
Choose Other and enter the IMAP server and SMTP server addresses your host gave you (for example Zoho, Proton Bridge, or your own domain's mail host). Tormano defaults to the standard secure ports.
What an app password is
A one-off password your provider generates for a single application. Tormano never sees your real account password, the app password works only for mail, and you can revoke it on its own at any time without changing anything else about your account.
Tormano signs in to the mailbox before saving anything. If it cannot, you get the provider's actual reason - wrong password, wrong server - and no account is created. If a host is rejected as unreachable or internal, that is a deliberate safety check, not a bug.
Everything else still works
Even without a connected inbox, Tormano can still send campaign and transactional email through its built-in email delivery (see "Email delivery"). A connected inbox is what adds two-way sync - logging replies onto contact timelines and sending from your own mailbox.
Security
Any credentials Tormano stores for connected accounts are encrypted at rest and never logged.
