For mail providers that aren't Gmail or Microsoft, Tormano supports standard IMAP (read) and SMTP (send).
Supported providers
- Apple iCloud Mail
- Fastmail
- Zoho Mail
- ProtonMail (with bridge)
- Custom domain hosts (cPanel, Plesk, etc.)
- Self-hosted Postfix / Dovecot
Connecting
/email-sync > + Add Account > Generic IMAP/SMTP. You'll need:
- Email address
- App password (not your main password — most providers issue separate IMAP passwords)
- IMAP host + port (typically 993 with SSL)
- SMTP host + port (typically 587 with STARTTLS)
Tormano tests both connections before saving.
Folder selection
After connecting, pick which IMAP folders to sync. Defaults: INBOX + Sent. Don't sync Spam or Trash.
Lookback
Default 30 days of historical mail synced on first connect. Configurable up to 365 days.
Sending
Outbound mail from Tormano routes through your SMTP. Replies go directly to your real inbox where you'll see them.
Security
Credentials are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. Tormano never logs passwords. Connection issues that look like password problems usually mean your provider rotated the app password — generate a fresh one and update in Tormano.
