Connecting Shopify

Turn every Shopify order and customer into a Tormano contact with purchase history.

3 min read · Updated Jul 7, 2026

Connect your Shopify store and every order, plus every new customer, becomes a Tormano contact with their full purchase history. New orders flow in automatically, and each contact shows their orders, total spent, and last order. It is free and needs no Shopify app store review.

Creating a custom app in Shopify

In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Apps and sales channels > Develop apps and click Create an app (you may need to click Allow custom app development first). Give it a name like "Tormano CRM". Under the app's API scopes, enable read_orders and read_customers, then save. Click Install app, open API credentials, and copy the Admin API access token (it is shown once).

Note: Shopify has signaled that this in-admin custom app path is changing during 2026. It works today with no review. If the exact wording in your admin differs, follow Shopify's current steps for creating an app and generating an Admin API access token.

Connecting

In Tormano, go to Settings > Integrations > Shopify, enter your shop domain (like your-store.myshopify.com) and the access token, then click Connect. Tormano checks the token and automatically sets up the order and customer webhooks. Your token is stored encrypted.

What syncs

  • Orders: each new or updated order creates or updates a contact (matched by email), records the order, its line items, total, and status, and adds a note to the contact timeline.
  • Customers: a new customer who signs up without ordering still becomes a contact.
  • Purchase history: the contact page shows a Purchase history panel with total spent, order count, and recent orders.

Duplicate deliveries are ignored automatically, and existing contact details are never overwritten.

Backfilling past orders

Click Import recent orders to pull your most recent orders into Tormano in one step.

Removing the integration

Click Disconnect on the same page. Tormano removes the webhooks it created and stops syncing.
