Tormano generates IRS-compliant tax receipt PDFs for every donation, with all the language the IRS requires.
What's on the receipt
- Your nonprofit's legal name, address, and EIN.
- The 501(c)(3) certification statement.
- Donor name and address.
- Donation amount, date, fund designation, payment method.
- The "no goods or services provided in exchange" disclaimer (or, if there were goods/services, the fair market value as a non-deductible portion).
- A unique receipt number for your records.
When receipts go out
- Single donations: automatically emailed within minutes of the gift being recorded, IF the donor has opted in. Otherwise the receipt is generated and stored, and you can download or send it manually.
- Recurring donations: each individual charge generates its own receipt at the time of the charge.
- Year-end summary: every January, Tormano can auto-generate one consolidated receipt per donor showing all gifts from the prior calendar year. Configure the schedule in Settings > Tax Receipts.
Customizing the template
Settings > Tax Receipts > Template. Edit the body copy, add your logo, change the signatory name, adjust the disclaimer language. Preview before saving.
Re-issuing
If a donor loses their receipt or needs a corrected one, find the donation, click ... > Re-send Receipt, or Edit and Re-send to fix the donor name first.
Bulk download
For board treasurers or audit prep, the Bulk Export button on the Tax Receipts page generates a single PDF with every donor's year-end summary, paginated.
