Connecting Xero

Two-way accounting sync: push contacts, donations, deals and grants; pull contacts and invoice payments.

3 min read · Updated Jul 7, 2026

Tormano has a genuine two-way Xero integration, mirroring the QuickBooks one. Connect once and your contacts and money records stay in sync in both directions.

Connecting

Go to the Xero settings page and connect via OAuth: you sign in to Xero and approve the requested accounting permissions. You can disconnect from the same page anytime. Note that Xero allows a limited number of connected organizations per app, so if you manage several Xero orgs you may occasionally be asked to reconnect.

What syncs

  • Contacts (two-way): push Tormano contacts to Xero, and pull Xero contact changes back, via a real-time webhook, a 15-minute catch-up, and a manual Pull from Xero button.
  • Donations, deals, and grants (push): donations post as Xero bank transactions; deals and grants post as Xero invoices. Everything is idempotent, so records are never duplicated.
  • Invoice payment status (reverse sync): when a Xero invoice tied to a Tormano deal or grant is paid or voided, Tormano updates that record and logs a timeline note when it is paid.

Keeping it current

Even without the real-time webhook, a background sync runs every 15 minutes so nothing is missed. The settings page has Push to Xero and Pull from Xero buttons and a sync history.

Removing the integration

Disconnect on the Xero settings page. Syncing stops until you reconnect.
