Tracking a grant from prospect to award

Grant lifecycle, stages, deadlines, and milestones.

Grants in Tormano track foundation and government funding through their whole lifecycle, from prospecting to reporting.

Grant statuses

A grant moves through these statuses: Prospect > Researching > Application In Progress > Submitted > Under Review > Approved > Awarded > Active > Reporting > Closed (plus Declined for the ones that don't come through). Tormano enforces a strict status order, so a grant advances in sensible steps rather than jumping arbitrarily.

Required fields when creating

The create form requires:

  • Grant Name — e.g. "Community Health Initiative"
  • Grantor Name — the funder, e.g. "Gates Foundation" (you can also link a grantor Contact)
  • Grant Type — Foundation, Government (Federal / State / Local), Corporate, Individual, or Community
  • Amount Requested — what you're asking for

Optional fields

Amount awarded (filled in once awarded), application deadline, start/end dates, description, attached files, and any custom fields.

Status visibility

The dashboard at /grants shows six KPIs: Total Grants, Total Requested, Total Awarded, Win Rate (awarded ÷ decided), Upcoming Deadlines, and Active Grants. Below them, each grant row shows its status, awarded amount, deadline, and a deadline-status badge (Overdue / Upcoming / days away).
