Building email templates

Reusable templates with merge fields and preview.

Templates are reusable email layouts you can drop into campaigns, sequences, or one-offs.

Where to manage

Open Email in the sidebar and use the Templates tab. From there you can create, edit, and delete templates in your organization's library. The campaign builder in the Marketing hub also has a Template dropdown so you can drop a saved template into a blast.

Building a template

On the Nonprofit edition you can start from one of the 8 pre-built nonprofit templates seeded into the library: Donation Thank You, Annual Appeal, Pledge Reminder, Event Invitation, Volunteer Appreciation, Grant Report Summary, Year-End Tax Receipt, and Lapsed Donor Re-engagement. Each ships with a subject line and HTML body you can customize.

Give a template a name, subject, and HTML body, and insert merge fields (see "Merge fields and personalization") so each recipient gets their own data.

Categories

Each template carries a category (for example donor stewardship, fundraising, events) so the team can find them faster as the library grows.

Preview

Merge fields render with the recipient's real values when the email actually sends. Send a test to yourself from the campaign builder to spot-check how a template looks with live data merged in.
