Automations let you encode "when X happens, do Y" rules so your team stops doing them manually.

Anatomy of a workflow

Every workflow has three parts:

  1. Trigger — what fires it. "Contact created", "Deal moved to Won", "Donation received over $500", "Date is 30 days before grant deadline".
  2. Conditions (optional) — narrow when it fires. "Only if lifecycle = Donor" or "Only on weekdays".
  3. Actions — what happens. Send email, create task, add tag, update field, enroll in sequence, send Slack notification.
