Automations overview

Workflows that fire automatically on triggers.

2 min read · Updated Jul 4, 2026

Automations let you encode "when X happens, do Y" rules so your team stops doing them manually.

Anatomy of a workflow

Every workflow has three parts:

  1. Trigger — what fires it. "Contact created", "Deal stage changed", "Donation created", "30 days before a grant deadline".
  2. Conditions (optional) — narrow when it fires. "Only if lifecycle = Donor".
  3. Actions — what happens. Send email, create task, add tag, update field, enroll in sequence, send an in-app or email notification, send SMS, create an invoice in QuickBooks, and more.

Where to manage

Everything lives under Automations (/automations). The Workflows tab lists every workflow with its status (active/paused), last run, and run count.

Creating

Click + New Workflow, choose the trigger, add any conditions, and add the actions. Test before activating.
