Twilio (SMS and voice)

How SMS and calling are powered, where to send SMS, and opt-out handling.

3 min read · Updated Jul 4, 2026

Twilio powers SMS campaigns, transactional SMS, and in-app calling in Tormano. SMS and calling are fully managed by Tormano at the platform level — no Twilio account needed on your side, so there is no "Connect Twilio" tile for you to set up in the app.

US A2P 10DLC

For SMS to US recipients, carriers require registered A2P 10DLC messaging (brand + campaign registration with The Campaign Registry). If SMS isn't yet enabled for your org, contact support to get your messaging registered before your first send.

Sending SMS

Send SMS from Messages (/sms-campaigns) — the SMS tab for campaigns and the WhatsApp tab for WhatsApp. You can also send transactional SMS from an automation's Send SMS action or via the API.

Calling

Tormano includes native in-browser calling. From a contact record you can place a call that's logged to the timeline with duration and disposition.

Opt-outs and compliance

Recipients who opt out are tracked on an opt-out list and excluded from future sends. Bulk marketing SMS requires prior express opt-in from the recipient — make sure you have consent before sending campaigns. (Tormano does not automatically append "Reply STOP" text to your messages, so include opt-out language yourself where your compliance program requires it.)

Cost

SMS is billed per message segment (roughly $0.0079 per segment for US numbers; a message over 160 characters is split into multiple segments). Tormano shows an estimated cost before you send a campaign.
